Subject: Just an update
Tinker's Creek Parents,
Just thought I'd send a quick update on what's happening in youth group.
I really apprecaite the sacrifice you make to help your students be able to work for and do things like the worship service on Sunday. I know there were extra practices and I'm sure you're tired of hearing those same songs over and over, if they practiced as much as it seems like they did. ;) Those students along with a few others lead the rest of the students in worship every Sunday morning at the beginning of YBF. If you get a chance, a big thanks to Jessie Barr and Mike Hirt who organize and lead them in all of that, they're doing a great job.
Jen Lee, Jamie's sister has joined the youth staff as well. I may be a little biased, but I think we have great female staff to work with and care about the girls at church. Jen is a great asset to the team, she has a lot of expereince with youth, teaching and leading. It's really nice to have her on board.
One thing that Mark Gutowski has been working on, is adding a blog section to the youth website. For those that don't know, blogging is basically like posting your email on a website that other people can read and respond to and then everyone can read their response and respond to that. This is one thing that the students have talked about for a while to help keep them connected throughout the week, as well as connect new students to Tinker's Creek. Mark and Dale Pease are of course looking into all of issues that come along with that and how best to deal with them. Mark is working with a group of students that have signed up to help work on the youth website, so keep your eyes out for progress on that.
The gears are in motion for the summer Missions Trip this year. We are heading back to good old Denver, Colorado. Kim Frampton is doing all of the physical planning again this year and she has some great ideas to make the trip even better than last year. We're still finalizing the requirements and some of the details of the trip, I'll pass those on as soon as I have them. We are set on the dates though, so mark your calendars for June 17-25, 2006.
As I write this I realiaze that tomorrow marks one year for me on staff at Tinker's Creek Can you believe that? We've done a lot in this last year and it seems like we've been together forever (in a good way). I have really enjoyed getting to know you and your students this past year. I'm glad that God is allowing me to work along side you in His body for His Kingdom. The Lord willing, I'm looking forward to many more years with you.
Let me know if you have any questions about anything above. I'll talk to you later.
