Tinker's Creek Parents,
This Sunday after YBF we will be having a short Missions Trip '07 meeting for any student interested in participating this year. We will talk more about what we’ll be doing on the trip and pass out the requirement list. If your student can’t make it let me know and I’ll make sure you get a copy of the application and requirements.
As you know on Wed nights we’ve been studying sexual purity for 7 weeks now, and as we finish this series it’s time to get a game plan. We’ve talked about a lot of issues revolving around this topic and how to put life change into practice. However, we know each student is unique and needs a custom built game plan for their lives. Which is where we pass this back to you as parents.
(This seems like a good time to reiterate what we do… The student ministry at Tinker’s Creek exists to come alongside parents as you raise your children in a Christ centered home. We are a resource for you because of our training and the extra time we can pour into your students. However, we know that we are only one of your many resources, and have no desire to take your place, but to simply help you where we can. With that in mind…)
Tomorrow night most of our time will be dedicated to creating that unique game plan for your student. I have a list of questions to guide the students, explaining what they have learned through this study and what is going to change in their lives as a result. After the students give these forms back to me, I’m going to stick a stamp on it and snail-mail it to you. (I figure this gives it the best odds of actually making it home.)
One of our main goals with this study was to break down some of the walls and open lines of communication with you and your students. We have been very open and honest with them about the issue of sexual purity throughout this study. Though it’s not an easy topic to discuss, it is one that we need to be vigilant in talking to our students about. Hopefully, two months later, the ice has been smashed to pieces and will give you an opportunity to continue discussing the subject with them.
As you talk through this issue please know that there are a lot of people that care about you and your student. We have had a lot of volunteers dedicate their time to teach about sexual purity. Know that we will continue to pray for you and would be more than willing to talk to you about these issues. If something comes up that you don’t feel you have the skills or experience needed to deal with, please contact Pastor Dave or I.
Let me know if you have any questions or want any more info about what we’ve covered in this study.
Thanks for the opportunity to serve your families,
Kasey Parmelee
