MT Day 3
|
|
|
Tinker's Creek Parents,
Well, after a long day of driving and rental car issues Jamie and I finally caught up with the crew in Michigan. Besides being exhausted they are all doing great. The staff put them to bed early tonight because they've been working so hard. I guess they stayed up a little late the first night with all the excitement, but after the first day of work they pretty much crashed as soon as the lights went out.
Gary was telling me that HFH got a grant to pay for 4 houses if they can be started and completed in 28 days. Which means the house we are working on this week must be done by next Thursday, even though they started the foundation less than a week ago. They have four different crews on this house in order to make that happen. Our group has been helping with insulation, siding, drywall and a multitude of other small tasks.
After the job site tool trailer was broken into last night (and most of the tools stolen) they got a late start today. However, volunteers from the other sites in the area loaned their tools to help the project continue. Gary said that toward the end of the day the students desided to stay an hour later than normal to make up for the missed hour while they waited for tools. How cool is that? ;)
We have a great group of kids on this trip and I know they are and will continue to learn a lot about sacrifice and serving others.
Keep praying for safety with all the work going on, but pray for students energy levels and attitudes as well. We still have three days of work ahead of us and a lot to be accomplished. Tomorrow night we're heading to the beach to play on the sand dunes!!
Thanks,
Kasey Parmelee
